Army chefs learn the very basics when they start their phase 3 training at the Army school of catering. The Army want to train every chef to the very highest standard and in different types of environments. As an army chef you could be cooking in a nice warm kitchen with all the best ingredients, oven space and refrigeration you need one week and be in the middle of the dessert or artic the next. Soldiers still need feeding and the standards still remain high. Learning the basic of catering and food handling will back you a better chef.
