Your role as a British army chef

As an Army chef, you have an important part to play in bringing Army policy into effect. Whilst working as a military chef, always remember the following advice; be a role model, set an example for your customers by eating healthily. If you follow a healthy eating plan yourself, you will be more likely to be able to help out others when they ask for advice.

Be ready, your customers may ask you questions about nutrition. Make sure you know your stuff, that way you will be able to give them helpful and informed answers. Avoid the “healthy option” label, feeding your military customers is not all about pointing them in the direction of the low calorie option. Make sure you inform them of their need to eat plenty of carbohydrates, and show them which foods are best suited for them.

Listen to your customers: Pay close attention to what your customers choose to eat, as this may help you provide better menus in the future. It's important you speak up, don’t be afraid to voice any concerns you may have about the ingredients or bought in products that you are using.

Apply your knowledge, combine and use everything you have learnt to cook the healthiest and tastiest food you can!
